| Biography: |
| Andrew Mitchell grew up and played his high school football in Choctaw, Okla., but his football and religious path have taken him far away from Oklahoma. A tight end for the Yellow Jackets in high school, Mitchell was a prospect out of high school at the lower Division I level. The 6-5, 300-pound offensive tackle is now a major Division I prospect.
After high school, Mitchell went to Dixie Junior College in Utah as a tight end. After one season he chose to go on his two-year Mormon mission. After he finished his mission he went to Snow Community College, and redshirted as a tight end.
During that redshirt season he started thinking about switching positions. Mitchell beefed up some 45 pounds and added strength in the weight room, and took himself from an average tight end to an above average athletic offensive tackle. This season he is crushing opposing defensive linemen and linebackers in helping Snow to the number one position in the junior college polls.
Mitchell is physical, has great quickness for his size, and finishes blocks well, usually on top of the defender. He has also not allowed a sack this season. |
