The USF Bulls continue their hot streak by upsetting No. 7 Georgetown 72-64 at the Verizon Center for their fourth consecutive BIG EAST win Wednesday night.
The Bulls were down by 9 after the first half, but Dominique Jones, the nation's leading scorer in January scored 22 second half points in the upset win. Jones finished with 29 points, and led the team with eight rebounds with four assists and three steals. He is now averaging 29.4 points per game over his last nine contests.
USF moved to 15-7 on the year and 5-5 in the BIG EAST, and the win gave the Bulls their fourth BIG EAST victory in a row and the second straight over a ranked team following a 70-61 win over No. 17 Pitt Sunday. Mike Mercer has also played a huge part in those wins, and tonight finished with 12 points and six rebounds, while Chris Howard had six assists.
This huge win against a ranked opponent is one of the biggest in school history, and they did it on the road. The Bulls have now won five of their last six and have an impressive four game winning streak going. After an impressive turnaround the Bulls actually have NCAA Tournament aspirations, and a few more wins and they will be that much closer.
They continue their road trip this weekend when they travel to face Notre Dame.
