Bulls Pull Offer from QB Carnes

In a shocking move, the Bulls withdrew its scholarship offer from QB Brion Carnes Friday.
USF pulled a shocker Friday when they withdrew its scholarship offer from
Brion Carnes
, the Manatee quarterback that was the Bulls first commit of 2010. The news broke when Manatee coach Joe Kinnan told both the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and the Bradenton Herald of the Bulls plans, and in both articles Kinnan was not happy that USF pulled the offer to say the least.
Carnes, a 3-star QB prospect, threw for 2,697 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, leading Manatee to the state championship game, where they lost to Plant. Carnes has been coming to USF practices since he was a sophomore and was an early commit, but since
Jim Leavitt
was fired, he had been listed as a soft verbal. He still said he remained committed but was keeping his options open. Than after news that offensive coordinator
Mike Canales
would no longer be on staff, Carnes seemed even iffier about being a Bull.
With his recruitment re-opened, Carnes entertained offers and set some visits up. Visiting
Nebraska
where his cousin Tommie Frazier played last week and is visiting
Western Kentucky
where he has a relationship with head coach Willie Taggert, who played at Manatee and assistant coach Raymond Woodie, who was the coach at nearby Palmetto.
There were rumors that Carnes commitment was softening even more, but Coach Kinnan told USFN that he would make a final decision after his visit and said “He’ll choose between USF, Nebraska, and WKU.”
Apparently the Bulls didn’t want to wait for a decision and now when Brion makes his choice on signing day, a USF hat won’t be on the table.
