4-Star UM Commit Gets Big Visit

4-Star UM Commit Gets Big Visit

Miami Northwestern's Todd Chandler is one of the top defensive tackles in the South. The 4-star defensive tackle committed to UM back in November, but will take several visits and received a big visit this week by a BIG East head coach. Read on to find out the latest.

Todd Chandler is a 6-foot-295 pound standout defensive tackle from Miami Northwestern that recorded 60 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 10 forced fumbles, and 16 sacks the past year. His regular season came to an end in a regional semi-final loss to Miami Central two-weeks ago, but still has one more game to play.

"Things are going pretty good, I'm just hitting the weight room and getting ready for the UnderArmor All-Star game in January."

The 4-star prospect ranked the No. 14th DT in the country by Scout.com committed to Miami last November, and was still being recruited by several schools, but another state school has entered the race.

"Yeah a lot of schools are calling, USF is the big one," said Chandler. "Colorado State, Florida State, FIU, schools like that have also been calling."

Last week when visits were allowed by head coaches Chandler was visited by Coach Brown of CSU, and took an official visit there this past weekend.

"I just got back yesterday, the visit went well," said Chandler. "It was first time I've seen snow."

The standout defensive tackle received another big visit today when USF Head Coach Jim Leavitt along with coach Larry Scott visited Chandler.

"The visit went real good, we talked for awhile," said Chandler. "He told me all about the program and how they really wanted me."

‘It felt real good having the head coach come see me, I met him several times before but never really sat down and talked," said Chandler. "He's a real cool head coach and a down to earth guy. I bonded with him right off the top."

USF Coach Larry Scott has been recruiting Chandler for some time, and he says the two have a very good relationship.

"Coach Scott and I have been real close since my ninth grade year, ever since my spring game when he came out to see me."

Chandler has several other visits lined up next month, including Louisville on Jan. 9th, USF on the 22nd, and FIU on the 29th. One school he doesn't have a visit set for is Miami.

"No sir, I don't have a visit set for Miami," said Chandler. "I've known them for some time and seen all I need to see already."

The Northwestern DT is very familiar with the USF program after staying with his mom who lived in Brandon. He also has visited several Bulls practices over the last two years, knows a lot of the players and thinks highly of the school.

"I'm really feeling that program," said Chandler. "They have a lot to offer and I really like them a lot."
