USF-CSU Connections

CSU freshman DL Coril Joseph hails from Tampa and was an all-conference player at Freedom HS, where he was coached by former USF QB and current program assistant Marquel Blackwell. Also Sophomore DB Chris Kuzdale earned all-state honors at Plant HS and led them to the 2006 AAAA Florida State Championship.

Why to watch

Even though the Bucs are 0-17 all-time against current FBS members, and the Bulls are heavily favored. FCS teams have beaten FBS teams on four occasions already this season. Villanova beat Temple, 27- 24, on September 3. Two days later, William & Mary beat Virginia, 26-14, and Richmond beat Duke, 24-16. Last Saturday, New Hampshire edged Ball State, 23-16. And there were nearly more upsets; Iowa needed two blocked field goals to beat North Iowa, 17-16, on September 5, and James Madison took Maryland to overtime last week, falling 38-35.
