With classes beginning today, the Bulls training camp is now over and the first game against Wofford is in less than two weeks. One player who is very excited for the season opener to get here is USF senior quarterback
Matt Grothe
.
The USFs coaching staff says Grothe has had a great off-season and has had looked his best in his five years of being a Bull, and the starting quarterback agrees. Saying they got some great work done all camp, and “This season is going to be a good one and one to cherish.”
Grothe says he’s worked hard this offseason to get better physically and mentally, and spent a lot of time with the receiving unit to get timing down and reduce the mistakes he’s made in the past, including making better decisions, better reads and improving in every area.
The senior quarterback loves the Bulls offense under USF offensive coordinator
Mike Canales
, saying the offense is better suited for his style of play, and that Canales “Does a great job of going to his strengths and staying away from his weaknesses. I couldn’t ask for anything else and it’s going to be a lot of fun to run this year."
Grothe also talks about the receiving unit and the good young talent that will surprise people. Matt also talked about the running backs and the offensive line which he says is just “manhandling people out at practice,” and thinks’ they’ll be doing some big things this season. Matt says he’s looking forward to his senior season and just wants to have fun, and if he does that and plays good football, everything else will fall into place. In this exclusive interview Matt talks about all this and more.
