Three former USF players, DE Jarriett Buie, OL Marc Dile, and Amarri Jackson sign free agent deals with the Buc's after Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp concluded Sunday. Stay informed with USFNation.com
USF defensive end
Jarriett Buie
and 4 other former Bulls were among 50 players at the Buccaneer minicamp this weekend, with 33 of them try-out contracts in hopes of making the team. It’s always a battle to make an NFL roster, but after a strong showing over the week-end, the former Bull said he and two teammates signed a free-agent contract with the Buc’s after the camp.
“Everything went great,” said Buie who signed a contract after the camp today. “I feel pretty good right now, but I understand this is only the beginning.”
Buie was one of five other former Bulls invited to the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Minicamp this weekend on a tryout contract. Former USF offensive lineman
Marc Dile
and receiver
Amarri Jackson
also signed contracts.
Offensive lineman Marc Dile (6’4-310) played in 51 games at USF, starting 36 times at both tackle spots.
Jackson (6’5-207) last played for USF in 2007, finishing his USF career with 891 yards receiving, 5 scores, 3 rushing touchdowns with 141 rushing yards, and also threw a TD. Amarri earned a free-agent contract from the Bucs after last year’s minicamp, but was cut in June, and is hoping to stick this year.
Tight end
Cedric Hill
got dinged up on the first day of camp and offensive lineman Jake Griffin who was invited to the camp late, weren’t offered a contract.
At 6'3-255 pounds, Buie has the size and skills that can cause mismatches for opposing offensive linemen. Last season he started and played in all 13 games as a senior, finished year with five sacks for minus 32 yards, all in the final eight games of the season, also had eight tackles for a loss.
“I feel pretty good right now,” said Buie. “But I understand this is only the beginning and anything can happen, and I just got to stay on edge. I got to keep working out, training harder and be in great shape by the time we start up again. That’s what you got to do to get better at this game.”
There has been no official release from the Buccaneers yet, but Buie, Dile and Amarri will report to the next Buc’s camp at the end of this month with no future guarantees.
Stay tuned with USFNation for more developments.
