Over 40 NFL scouts and coaches including representatives from the: Seahawks, Dolphins, 49ers, Redskins, Giants, Browns, Bears, Cowboys, Broncos, Eagles, Saints, and the Bucs attended the 2009 USF Pro timing day to further evaluate Tyrone McKenzie, Taurus Johnson,  and the other seniors that are hoping to make it to the next level.

Linebacker Tyrone McKenzie, who owns the USF record for tackles in a season, and has been projected to go in the first three rounds. He posted 27 bench reps at the NFL combine, and participated in several events during the USF Pro day, worked out in position drills, and impressed all with his performance.

Taurus Johnson was the other Bull invited to the NFL combine, and stood by most of his combine results, but participated in the vertical, and improved his 3-cone number by 3 tenths of a second, and worked out in position drills.

Here is the breakdown of the day.

10:30 Vertical
10:50 Bench
11:30 40 yard
11: 50 Shuttle & 3 Cone

Observations

Pat Julmiste was throwing the ball to all the RBs, WRs. Taurus Johnson was not too happy because ALL of the players had to come back for the ball. A few ducks here and there did not help as well. He threw low balls and under threw a few passes. Puzzles me why they chose Julmiste to throw them the ball.

Johnson looked real good though. He came out of his break real quick and clean. His cutting ability is tremendous, and ran all of his routes crisp. TJ caught all of his passes with his hands and never let the ball get into his body. He has great body control and leaping ability. He seems to play bigger than his 6-1, 207 frame.

Ben Williams is stacked. The man looks like a human cannon ball. He caught the ball well out of the backfield even though the passes thrown to him were awful. The Bucs were talking about how much they were impressed with his catch passing/blocking abilities.

Jarriett Buie is just a freak. The man weighed in at 251 and will probably play in a 3-4 scheme. He looked very impressive is lateral and agility drills and caught the ball well when it was thrown to him.

Safety Louis Gachette really helped himself during the day after running a 4.5 40 yard dash, and a  7.12 in the 3-cone drill.

BJ Daniels showed up and was throwing the ball around but not to any of the players. Grothe, Bruce Mompremier, Quenton Washington, Sabbath Joseph, Jerome Murphy and Jerrell Young all were in street clothes. Coach Tresey and Levitt also made an appearance.

To all of the Cowboy fans out there, Mike Jenkins was on the field and looked in top shape. He is in Tampa relaxing.

Also attending Pro Day was offensive lineman Frank Davis who was previously with the Lions, and WR Amarri Jackson.

All scouts ran the drills consisting of Plant & Drive, directional, catching and reaction. I talked to a Saints scout and I asked him what he looked for in most of these drills, he responded with Footwork and how sudden they break & react.

The offensive lineman did individual drills with the Redskins scout. Long snappers did their drills in the middle of the field. DB's did back-pedal drills with the Giants scout.

Also joining the USF seniors were former Bulls, QB Pat Julmiste, Richard Clebert,  Ean Randolph, Treco Bellamy, and Ronnie McCullough who finished at Bethune-Cookman. Former Buccaneer Frank Murphy also worked out.
