USF officials have announced that the Bulls have completed the 2009 schedule with the addition of Div-I-AA Charleston Southern on Tuesday.

USF officials have announced that the Bulls have completed the 2009 schedule with the addition of Div-I-AA Charleston Southern Tuesday.

Charles Southern signed a one-game agreement and replaces Florida International, which canceled its agreement, and will play in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium on Sept. 19.

“We feel fortunate that a quality FCS opponent was available at this late date and that Charleston Southern was willing to adjust their schedule,” said USF Director of Athletics Doug Woolard. “We are happy that our fans will be able to see six home games at Raymond James Stadium this season, which was our primary consideration in filling the unexpected void in our 2009 schedule.

This is the fifth all-time meeting between the two programs and the Bulls are 4-0 all-time against Charleston Southern. The Buccaneers also play at the defending-National Champion Florida two weeks earlier (Sept. 5). The Buccaneers also traveled to Florida to play at Miami last season.

“Our staff was very thorough and diligent in its efforts to find another FBS opponent on Sept. 19. We contacted dozens of schools directly, conference commissioners from around the country and other college football officials in our effort to schedule an FBS opponent. Unfortunately, due to the position we were put in at this extremely late date, we were not able to achieve that objective.”“

The Bulls 2009 non-conference schedule is now set with the Bulls opening with Wofford on Sept. 5 at home, then travel to Western Kentucky (Sept. 12), then host Charleston southern on Sept. 19. After that the Bulls traveling to FSU on Sept. 26 and then return home to face Miami during the Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 28.

USF also hosts West Virginia, Cincinnati and Louisville at the Ray Jay in 2209, and the dates for the BIG EAST games will be released this spring.

Game dates are subject to change, while game times will be announced with the BIG EAST television package this spring.
