Michigan DE Sets Visit with USF
About 5 weeks ago USFNation reported that the Bulls coaching staff was going after the 6-foot-5, 230 pound DE. Since then things have progressed and the Bulls are recruiting Farrington harder than any other team.
"I got a couple of teams coming to my school to meet with me, Michigan State is coming in this week. South Florida's Coach Hendricks told me he's coming all the way up from Florida to watch me play basketball and then he's going to come to my house and meet with my family and my coach. He said he's coming up in the first week in January."
"When I talked to Coach Hendricks he told me he wanted to bring me in on a visit and I said, ‘Oh great!' and then I wasn't sure if it was an official or not because we haven't really talked about setting one up. I asked him if it was an official and he said, ‘of course it is!' I really didn't know if that's what he was asking about, so this is really cool."
The last time we talked to Farrington he told us there was still a lot of work to be done on his grades, something he's been improving upon every week. His offer from USF is contingent on him making grades, his play on the field is not the issue, this season Dylan had 90 tackles with 8 sacks.
"I'll be sending my grades to Coach Hendricks next week. My grades are all A's and B's right now. I'm trying to make up for mistakes I made when I was in 9th and 10th grade, if I maintain my current GPA and do well in my Replacement classes I could have a 2.4 or 2.5 GPA and I already have a 19 on my ACT."
"It felt good when USF invited me to come in. It got me to realize how important it is to get my grades up. Now that I got something going (USF visit), it makes me work even harder and it shows me that I have been improving."
Farrington is also getting attention from Kansas, Iowa, Michigan and Michigan State. He says he is also hoping to receive an offer from the two teams he's grown up watching – Michigan and Michigan State. "It's really down to Michigan, USF and Michigan State. Those are the most likely places I'll end up. To be honest, if I'm not going to Tampa then I want to stay home and play at either Michigan or Michigan State."
Does that mean Farrington is looking to commit on his visit to USF?
"I would love to be in Florida, I love everything about it. I'm excited for my visit and hopefully I'll learn more about the school. I'm not sure when I'll make a decision."
USFNation.com will have another update with Dylan Farrington after his in-home visit with Coach Hendricks.
