Will Lack of an Official Visit Hurt USF?

Next Sunday Josh Robinson will announce his final decision at his local church. He'll be picking from USF, UCF, Michigan and FIU. But is USF a step behind becuase they have not brought Robinson in on an official visit? He talks to USFNation about that and gives insight on what he likes about his top 4 schools. Read on for the entire story.
In 7 days Plantation CB,
Josh Robinson
will announce his final decision on where he will attend college. For the Bulls it will be the end of a 9-month recruitment. South Florida first offered the 5-foot-10, 180 pound corner back in March and since then Josh has been on campus numerous times for tournaments and camps. Like in every recruitment of a top prospect there is strategy involved. One of the USF staff’s policies when it comes to recruiting is scheduling late official visits, to ensure USF is the last impression a prospect has on his mind when he goes to sign his LOI on National Signing Day. But in the case of Josh Robinson, he will make his choice months before NSD.
For head Coach
Jim Leavitt
and the rest of the staff, the decision not to bring Robinson in early for a visit is similar to the decision to go for it on a critical 4th down – if it works you’re a genius, if it doesn’t, you’ll be second guessed every time Robinson’s name is brought up throughout his career.
“I don’t have any more official visits scheduled.” Said Robinson, “I’m deciding in a week and I don’t want any distractions.”
Does this put USF at a disadvantage? Robinson has already seen
UCF
multiple times on unofficial visits, and he’s also taken an official to Central Florida. Another team he’s choosing from is
Michigan
and he took an official visit to see the Big Blue about a month ago.
“USF is still in contention. It has kind of had an affect on my decision because they want me to come for my official after I’ve already made my choice.”
“I was thinking the other day, ‘Alright, if you really want me then why not let me come in and see the school before I make my decision.’ But I talked with the coaches and I feel good about it.”
Next Sunday, at his families church, Robinson says he’ll pick from four school’s.
“I plan on choosing from USF, UCF, Michigan and FIU.”
FIU:
They have a very nice campus, it’s close to home and the potential for early playing time is there. The coaching staff is real down to earth, there is a lot I like about FIU.
Michigan:
The history and tradition speaks for itself. I think they have a strong foundation with their coaching staff, and I know they’ll be for at least the next 4 years. BR>
UCF:
I’ve always liked UCF, I like the campus and the overall environment. I have a relationship with the coaching staff and early playing time is a big factor with them as well.
USF:
They’ve told me early playing time is available. I like what I saw of the facilities and campus. The staff is great and I really like where the program is headed.
Sunday is a big day for Josh Robinson and the Bulls. USFNation.com will be reporting the news as soon as it happens. Also remember to check back throughout the week as we will post any rumors or inside info we hear on the message board as decision-time nears.
