In this exclusive video, USF linebacker Tyrone McKenzie talks with USFN about the Bulls upcoming…
The morning after the Bulls Sunday night 17-13 win over UCONN, Bulls WR Dontavia Bogan was named the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week and LB Tyrone McKenzie was named to the weekly honor roll for his performance.
Bogan racked up 135 yards on just two kickoff returns during USF's 17-13 win against Connecticut, and set the USF single game record for return average of 67.5. His 64-yard return of the opening kickoff set up the Bull's first touchdown by Benjamin Williams. Bogan also had a 73-yard return in the second quarter, but the Bulls squandered the great field position after a Grothe interception. After his two returns, the Huskies didn't kick to Bogan the rest of the game.
Besides setting the single record for returns, Bogan also set a new USF single season record for kickoff return yardage of 652, breaking the 9-year old record of 578 yards that was set in 1999 by DeAndrew Rubin. Bogan also set a new record for returns with 25, eclipsing the record of 25 set by Jerome Murphy last season.
USF senior linebacker Tyrone McKenzie was named to the BIG EAST Honor roll after leading the Bulls with 16 tackles, with three tackles for losses, and was all over the field Sunday night against the Huskies.
