Jaybo Shaw back in the mix!

Jaybo Shaw back in the mix!

USFNation introduced Jaybo Shaw back in July, shortly after, the Bulls staff backed-off. Now there is breaking news to report on the recruitment of the Georgia quarterback. Read on for the entire story.

The most famous name of the '08 class looks like he's back in the picture for USF. That's right, Jaybo Shaw tells USFNation that the Bulls have upped their recruitment in the past few weeks.

"Things have gotten serious between USF and I lately." Shaw added, "Coach Gregory came by my school last week and then I talked with Coach Leavitt on the phone."

While there hasn't been an offer extended, Shaw thinks that's where this is headed.

"Coach Leavitt said he wants to see me before they offer. He told me things are real busy right now because they are practicing for the bowl game, but he's coming for an in-home visit after the bowl game and I think they'll offer."

Shaw, who committed to Middle Tennessee back in August, says there has been a lot of action since his season ended. He says that newly acquired Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson offered him days after taking the job.

"Coach Johnson called me and offered, he's coming to do an in-home visit this week. That will be my first chance to meet him."

Will the GT offer and possible USF offer cause Shaw to re-open his recruitment?

"I like Georgia Tech because they are 45 minutes from my house and they play in the ACC. I haven't met coach Johnson yet, I want to see what kind of offense he plans on running. That will be what I really want to find out, I doubt that he'll use the true triple option that he ran at Navy."

As for USF he says they are a team he kept an eye on all season.

"I watched about every game." Adding, "It's because Coach Gregory never lost touch with me. He continued to check on me and see how I was doing."

"I told the (USF) coaches that I could fit their system perfectly. I watched Grothe out there and I think I play very similar to his style."

At 6-0, 187 pounds Shaw is built exactly how Matt Grothe was when he came out of Lake Gibson high school three years ago. This season Shaw put up some impressive numbers. He threw for 2,600 yards, rushed for 950 and scored a combined 48 touchdowns on the ground and through the air. He led his team into the playoffs with a 9-2 record.

"It's going to come down to three teams Middle Tennessee, USF and Georgia Tech. I don't think I'll add any more. One of those schools will be the one I go to."

Shaw says he is working out and throwing everyday in preparation for the North/South Georgia all-star game on December 29th. Stick with USFNation for the latest news regarding QB Jaybo Shaw.

My Take:
This is simple, B.J. Daniels is taking longer than expected to make a decision and the staff wants to take a QB in this class. Shaw fits the offense and I expect him to be offered if Daniels has not made a decision coming out of the dead period. Jaybo says plans to take a visit are not finalized, but an official visit will be scheduled for mid-to-late January.
