Georgia QB Ready to Impress at Showcase Camp

We have featured several recruits already this week who will be making the trip to Tampa for the annual Senior Showcase Camp at USF. Many of the prospects coming already have offers, some don't and there are a few who are on the bubble. One of those athletes on the bubble is Jaybo Shaw. He's a 5-foot-11 170 pound playmaker from Flowery Branch Georgia. We have featured Jaybo twice on USFNation.com, now he comes to Tampa for the first time in hopes of landing an offer from USF.

"I've had a busy summer, lots of 7-on-7 tournaments and camps." Shaw has also picked up a few offers. "Airforce was my first offer and then Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee came in and offered."

Even though he doesn't have an offer from South Florida he has gotten to know Coach Greg Gregory throughout the recruiting process.

"Man, I've been talking to him for months. We text constantly, probably every other day or almost everyday. We have a good relationship, he's impressed with what I can do so I'm going to come down there this weekend and show coach Leavitt what kind of quarterback I am."

Not many QB's under 6-foot receive offers without being evaluated in person and that's why Shaw is not worried about performing when all eyes are watching. He says the coaches will be surprised at what they see.

"One thing that doesn't show up on tape is my velocity. I even watch my own tape and don't see it. Coach Gregory even said that is one of the things Leavitt is looking for. When I go down there they will see that the ball looks different coming out of my hand than it does when they watch my film."

Shaw is tuning up for Saturday's camp by participating in a 7-on-7 camp today with his team. He says he's anxious to get down here and will be driving throughout Friday night with his Dad. He understands that this is a very important weekend and USFNation will keep you updated. We will have pictures and video of Shaw in action. Stay tuned!
