About 6 weeks ago USFNation.com introduced you to a linebacker named Shaq Wilson, the Bulls have been recruiting him for almost a year now and this weekend he was in Tampa to watch Saturdays scrimmage. As a sophomore the 6-foot-1, 210 pound outside linebacker from First Coast HS in Jacksonville was invited to USF's summer showcase camp. This is a camp normally designated for seniors, Wilson was talented enough to earn a special invite.

Last season as a junior Shaq recorded 132 tackles, 9 sacks, 1 INT and 2 forced fumbles. To improve on those numbers he has already began work in the weight room and is doing footwork drills on the track.

School isn't even out yet, but Wilson already has a full schedule of visits for the summer, including UCF, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson and UF. However last weekend he was at South Florida with teammates Nigel Carr and LeAndre Lance to watch the Bulls final scrimmage before the spring game.

"Nigel and his mom organized the trip for the three of us." Wilson added, "They were going to Tampa for his little brothers birthday and Nigel set it up with the coaches so we could come see them practice on Saturday."

What were Shaq's first impressions of South Florida football?

"I liked it." Adding, "I got to see how their tempo was and how the coaches and players got along."

Wilson said he liked what he saw on the field, but what he liked the most was Coach Leavitt's coaching style.

"I talked to Coach (Leavitt) after the practice. I like his energy and I got the feeling he always tries to get the best out of each player and the best out of the team. You can tell the team really likes him. I thought it was great when he was going through the drills with the team."

"I also talked with Coach Burnham. I liked him because he stresses the fundamentals and he's also an up-tempo type coach."

Last time we talked with Shaq he said USF was in his top 3, now that he's been contacted and offered by several more schools has anything changed?

"I'd say things are pretty much wide open right now. South Carolina is probably at the top, then Florida State. They haven't offered yet, but I talk to them a lot and I think they're close to offering. Miami is up there and so is Minnesota and Ole Miss."

"It's wide open, but if I had to name a top 5 right now it would be South Carolina, FSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, USF. Miami and Louisville are close, but I need to know more about those two."

Next weekend Wilson makes a trip to South Carolina to watch their spring game. This is a very important trip since SC is currently his top school. USF has dropped a couple spots, but Wilson said staying in Florida is important to him. Stick with USFNation for more updates as we follow Shaq through his busy summer.
