It's Official: Claude Davis Signs LOI

Signing Day is here and USFNation.com has all the breaking news! All day we will be updating the LOI list as the recruits send them in.

South Florida has received a Letter of Intent from DE Claude Davis of Lake Gibson High School

The 6-4- 235 pounds Davis was the Bulls first commit of '07, and chose USF over some other big name programs including, UF, Ohio, Clemson, Pittsburgh and Iowa and Toledo.

"I chose USF for a few reasons" says Davis, "It's close to my house. I like the coaches, and (USF) has a lot of potential."

Davis had an impressive senior season recording 76 tackles, 40 unassisted, with 10 tackles for-aloss, 6 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and a blocked punt. He was named All-State Class 5A First Team Defense, and was invited to the 2006 North-South All-Star game. At the game he had a tremendous showing with two big sacks against one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, Robert Marve.

"I feel real good about my decision," adding, "I thought about it a lot and I want my parents and friends to watch me play."

Davis plans on re-taking the ACT this coming Saturday, as he's still a couple points short. "I'll be straight," he said. "I'm close and I'm ready for this one."

Check back later with USFNation.com as we'll have a full Q & A with Claude after Signing Day.
