USF/McNeese State Game Notes

USF came out a little flat, but put together a great second half to beat McNeese State 41-10. Here are some tidbits from Saturday's game.

Some Notable players not in Uniform: DB Dylan Douglas, WR Edner Alcin, RB Ashton Samuels, WR Jason Sherman, LB Lebrandon Glover, RB Shawn Cannon, DT Frank D’Amico, WR Carlton Mitchell, DE Josh Julmiste, RB Ricky Ponton, WR Jackie Chambers, WR Jesse Hester Jr. (Mild injury)

Andre Hall spotted on sidelines helping cheer on his former teammates.

-On offense, running back Moise Plancher, offensive linemen Jared Carnes, Nick Capogna, Jake Griffin, and tight end Will Bleakley each registered their first-career starts.

-On defense, defensive ends Treco Bellamy, George Selvie, defensive tackle Allen Cray, and defensive back Jeremy Burnett each registered their first-career starts.

-Senior Ean Randolph recorded his first-career reception with a 6-yard catch during the first quarter.

-USF utilized five different running backs, looking to fill the void left by former Bull Andre Hall. On USF’s first offensive play of the game, Plancher recorded his first career carry with a 10-yard rush during the first quarter. Sophomore Benjamin Williams recorded his first-career carry during the first quarter. Walt Smith recorded his first-career carry with a 6-yard carry during the second play of the second quarter. Running back Keeley Dorsey registered his first-career carry during the second quarter.

-USF punter Ill Petrov recorded his first-career punt during the first quarter (a 25-yard punt)

-Trae Williams’ interception with 4:42 left in the first quarter was the fourth of the junior’s career.

-The fumble recovery by McNeese State’s Jared Dolan with 35 seconds left in the first quarter was the first-ever fumble recovery in the end zone by a USF opponent.

-Quarterback Matt Grothe registered his first-career completion with a 6-yard to sophomore wide receiver Amp Hill during the second quarter. The catch was also Hill’s first-career catch.

-Grothe scored his first-career touchdown on a 1-yard quarterback sneak with 10:25 left in the second quarter.

-Allen Cray tallied his second-career sack with a 1:55 left in the second quarter. The sack was for a loss of nine yards.

- USF’s blocked punt with 1:49 left in the second quarter marking the first time since Nov. 5, 2005 (at Rutgers) that the Bulls had blocked a punt. USF won that game 45-31.
