USF Signs Home and Home Series with Big 10
Posted Aug 15, 2006

TAMPA, FLA. (August 15, 2006) – USF has signed a pair of football contracts that brings the Big 10’s Indiana to Raymond James Stadium on November 12, 2011 and Michigan State on September 8, 2012. The Bulls will travel to Indiana on October 9, 2009 and Michigan State on September 7, 2013.

“Our fans deserve these types of home and series with BCS opponents and are important for our football program as well,” said USF director of athletics Doug Woolard. “Games of this caliber are beneficial to the Big East Conference and will add national exposure and recognition for the University of South Florida and the Tampa Bay area.”

That philosophy begins to take shape in 2007 when the Bulls host North Carolina (ACC) and travel to Auburn (SEC). In 2008, USF has a home date with Kansas (BIG 12), and the Bulls host Miami (ACC) in 2009 and 2013 (after a 2012 game at Miami).

“We have a great deal of respect for the Indiana and Michigan State programs, and the Big 10,” said USF head coach Jim Leavitt. “My mom graduated from Michigan State, so that’s exciting. Our focus will always be on next practice and our current season, but scheduling home and home games with BCS programs is another sign of our aggressive growth plan at USF.”
