Simmons Eyes Decision Date

P.J. Simmons and two of his Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby teammates are planning to make their collegiate decisions known to the public in a couple of weeks. The three-star athlete talks about his recent visit to Kentucky, announcement details, offseason goals, and more.

Additional scholarship offers are expected to arrive between now and National Signing Day for P.J. Simmons, but the productive athlete is ready to make his collegiate choice known to everyone in a few weeks.

"May 16th is the set date for now (to announce my college decision)," Simmons said. "It will be me, Jaylin Hayward and Danny Thomas. Wherever we go, we're trying to make the move together."

A pair of SEC programs who have yet to offer will be making the stroll down to the Sunshine State this week to evaluate the three-star athlete.

"I really like Kentucky and I really like Florida," Simmons said. "I know they're coming to see me all next week. Arkansas State, Cincinnati, South Florida and Troy (are also under consideration)."

With spring football approaching, Simmons' focus will be shifting to his high school squad, but the Godby star had one last chance to fit in a visit in over the weekend.

"I went to Kentucky this past weekend and I think that's my last visit, because spring football is about to start," Simmons said. "Oh, man, I loved it. The players, coaches, fans, and I just felt so at home up there. They want me at running back."

Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby High School will be loaded with leadership and experience for their 2014 playoff run, and Simmons is ready to get started.

"I just want to be a leader for those guys out there," Simmons said. "We have 35 seniors this year, so I just want to lead and give the young guys something to look after. We're trying to chase our goal."
