After gaining steam on the recruiting trail in recent weeks, picking up scholarship offers from Miami, South Florida and Arizona, 2015 Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee defensive tackle, Ryan Fines, ended the recruiting process a little earlier than most expected.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive tackle will play his college football in Coral Gables for the University of Miami.
"One reason I chose Miami is because of it's academics," Fines told Scout.com. "They allow you to sort of customize your major which fits perfectly for me. I also choose Miami for the people here. The entire campus acts as if they're one big family, especially the football team."
The group of collegiate athletes that the Hurricanes will surround Fines with was another significant factor in the decision-making process for the Bradenton Manatee product.
"The final reason I chose the U is for the football team," Fines said. "They're on the rise and I want to be apart of the group of guys that brings Miami back to dominance."
As happy as Fines was to become a member of the Hurricanes family, Al Golden's coaching staff was filled with elation as well.
"They were thrilled," Fines said. "They wanted me to go there badly."
Fines becomes the Hurricanes' fourth commitment for Al Golden's 2014 recruiting class.
