Earlier in the day Tennessee managed to reroute quarterback Joshua Dobbs (Alpharetta, Ga.). He had been committed to Arizona State since last summer.
Brown is a 6-foot-3, 253-pound defensive end prospect from Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. That's the same school that produced Curt Maggitt, a two-year starter at linebacker for the Volunteers and a factor in Brown's decision.
Although it gives Brown a two-star ranking, FOX Sports NEXT describes him as a "talented defensive end prospect who finished his junior season with 11 sacks."
Brown, who also strongly considered South Florida, spearheaded a Dwyer High defense that allowed just 6.83 points per game in 2012. With Tennessee returning to a 4-3 defense in 2013 after using a 3-4 alignment in 2012, Brown projects to play the same hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker position that Maggitt plays.
