Syracuse Dominates Final Exhibition Contest

Syracuse used their length and superior offensive skills to dominate an overmatched Bloomsburg squad in their final exhibition contest 103-60.

Syracuse dominated their second and final exhibition game over Bloomsburg 103-60.

A suffocating Syracuse defense that had 14 steals and several blocks was too much for an undersized Bloomsburg squad. Brandon Triche led all scorers with 23 points. The senior guard also contributed 7 assists and 2 steals.

Sophomore point guard Michael Carter-Williams filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals and a block. Junior C.J. Fair also had a solid night with 12 points and 4 steals.

The Orange were dominant inside as they held a significant size advantage. Rakeem Christmas and DaJuan Coleman combined for 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Bloomsburg stayed with the Orange early, trailing only 26-20 midway through the first half. However, the Orange closed the half on a 34-4 run, frequently getting out in transition for easy buckets.

Syracuse finished shooting 59% from the floor, and 10-21 from beyond the arc. They scored 40 points off of 25 forced turnovers.

Forwards James Southerland and Jerami Grant were key contributors as well. Southerland hit all five of his three-point attempts and finished the game with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. He was very impressive passing on fast breaks.

Grant continues to impress and make his case for playing time this year. He finished with 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Redshirt freshman Trevor Cooney saw his first action as he missed the exhibition matchup with Pace. He finished with 6 points making two three-point attempts.

Syracuse looked ready for the regular season, and will face San Diego State in their regular season opener on Friday November 9th aboard the USS Midway aircraft carrier.
