Cameron Ruff, a two-way lineman for Tampa Jesuit earned an offer after a standout camp performance and today gave the USF coaches his commitment.
“I’ve decide to make an early commitment to USF,” said Ruff. “I love the program, it’s close to home and the campus atmosphere just feels like home. “
“The coaching staff is great, they have so much enthusiasm, and I love the campus and the facilities, they’re really great,” said Ruff. “They have a lot of area players on their team, and that makes it that much better.”
“I called coach Shankweiler and he was excited and thrilled that I committed,” said Ruff. “I think I made his day. I know it made mine.”
The 6-foot-4, 288 pound two way lineman had 14 offers including offers from South Florida, Syracuse, , Purdue and Cincinnati. Middle Tennessee State, Iowa State, Bowling Green, UMass, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Kent State, Samford, and Furman, plus had plenty of other interests before choosing USF.
“They offered me after the camp and I felt really excited to get that offer from them. They’ve been on my radar for awhile, and I really like the school and the program,” said Ruff. “Coach Holtz came up to me and my family and told me about the offer. “It was really a dream come true, especially with them being so close to where I live.”
After taking a week to think about tit while volunteering at a muscular dystrophy camp for kids, Ruff made the pledge and said what he likes about the Bulls.
“They have a really strong program and their intensity is always there. The coaching staff is always fired up, and I feel comfortable around them,” said Ruff. “Also you can tell the players want to be there, and they definitely have a lot of love for each other and have a close family.”
