After playing at three different venues during 2011-12, USF Head Coach Stan Heath and the men’s basketball team return to campus and the brand new Sun Dome on Saturday, Nov. 10, when it hosts Central Florida for the season opener.
“What an exciting way to open a brand new building with a future BIG EAST opponent in UCF,” said Heath. “This should be an exciting game that will feature great talent. We expect our fans to fill the seats and give us the energy to provide an electric and memorable season opener.”
While playing at three different venues for home games during the entire 2011-12 season, the Bulls had their most successful year in program history. Led by BIG EAST Coach of the Year Stan Heath, the Bulls the Bulls matched its school record for wins in a season by going 22-14 and made it to its first NCAA Tournament in 20 years, reaching the third round of the NCAA Championship.,
UCF advanced to the first round of the NIT a year ago finishing with an overall record of 22-11 and will return a majority of their roster for the 2012-13 season. UCF is slated to join the BIG EAST Conference in 2013-14 for all sports. The Bulls and Knights open the home-and-home series with UCF in Tampa, and then face off in Orlando on January 2, 2013.
