USF is starting the New Year with a bang as Coach Heath got his first commitment of 2012 when guard DeMarcus Holland a guard verbally committed to South Florida. The 6-foot-3, point guard/combo guard is a standout prospect from Naaman Forest HS in Garland Texas, plays AAU ball for the Dallas Mustangs and will be part of the 2012 class.

"Just committed to South Florida (Big East)," Holland tweeted shortly after. "I'm really excited man."

Holland committed to Coach Heath following an official visit this past weekend, and had offers from Texas Tech, Fresno State, Northeastern, among others, plus had other programs showing interest, including Texas who called to say they were going to offer until they found out he committed to USF.

"I'm just in love with the opportunity and just the fact that I have a chance to make an impact in a huge conference alongside a great staff and players with a lot of heart and character just like me," said Holland "It's a blessing and I thank everyone who has helped and had faith in me to this point."

The standout Texas prospect averaged 16 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals per game according to his AAU Coach A.J. Johnson.

The combo guard is the fourth commitment for USF in the 2012 class, joining Javonte Hawkins, Waverly Austin and Musa Abdul-Aleem to make up their four-man class.
