After an amazing visit, USF Head Coach Stan Heath and the Bulls received a commitment from 6-foot-5, 220-pound Musa Abdul-Aleem, a 2012 JUCO guard from Georgia Perimeter College. Abdul-Aleem marks South Florida’s first commitment in the 2012 recruiting class.
"Yes Musa has committed to the Bulls," said assistant coach David Dennis. "He had a great visit and Coach Heath and his staff did a fantastic job in recruiting Musa."
The 6-foot-5, 220 pound JUCO standout had heavy interest from schools Georgia Tech, South Florida, Georgetown, Florida State, Maryland, West Virginia, Baylor, Gonzaga, Memphis, Marshall, Nebraska, Rhode Island and South Carolina, but began focusing on Memphis and South Florida. He first took an official visit to Memphis and then a recent visit to USF.
“My visit to USF was amazing and I loved everything about it,” Musa told USFNation.com earlier. ““The campus was off the charts. It was amazingly beautiful, and their practice facility is simply unbelievable and everything about it is just amazing,”
After being relatively unknown coming out of high school, but after averaging 14.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game Abdul-Aleem was named the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Freshman of the Year and an first-team all-region pick in as a freshman. Musa then blew up this summer after being named a top performer at the Jerry Mullen's JUCO Top 100 Camp in St. Charles MO, and the All-American JUCO Showcase in Orlando, FL.
