Two USF Reserves Leave Football Team

USF Head coach Skip Holtz has announced that two reserve players, sophomore running back Dontae Aycock and redshirt freshman defensive end Brandon Wilkinson are no longer with team.

After the USF football team concluded practice in Vero Beach on Sunday, Bulls head coach Skip Holtz announced that two reserve players, sophomore running back Dontae Aycock and redshirt freshman defensive end Brandon Wilkinson are no longer with team.

"Brandon Wilkinson and Dontae Aycock have both made the decision not to play anymore," said Holtz. "So neither on will be with the program any longer".

Dontae Aycock, the former Chamberlain star that transferred from Auburn last year didn't play for the Bulls last season after sitting out his NCAA-mandated transfer season.

"Dontae's made the decision not to play football anymore. He was struggling with his weight and didn't feel like football's was still in his heart," said Holtz. "He's done great academically and just wants to go to school, and he's going to stay at South Florida and get his degree. It's his decision and we wish him the best."

Venice defensive end Brandon Wilkinson was part of the class of 2010 and after redshirted last season, was still undersized and behind many others on the depth chart. Holtz said he has the desire to see the field early and though he'd get that chance elsewhere.

"Brandon Wilkinson has made the decision to turn and transfer. He wants to play and was getting frustrated with waiting his turn as a redshirt freshman," said Holtz. "He wants to see the field and right now it's tough sledding with guys like Hampton, Giddins, Forte and the guys ahead of him.

"He wants to go to a 1-AA so he can play immediately or a Junior college and go through the process again," said Holtz. We wish them the best of luck. We've been making calls and will do everything we can to make things work for him."
