Spring football may be over for Armwood offensive tackle Kevin McCoy, but the offers keep coming in. the 6-foot-5, 273 pound prospect already had several big offers in hand and over the past week added three more to bring his total to 9.
"I'm really stoked about all of it and I still can't believe I'm getting all theses offers," said McCoy. "These are all some good schools, and they're not small schools with good programs. I'm really excited to see who else offers and what my choice will be in the end."
With an impressive list of offers, including ones from several big time programs, McCoy said he doesn't have a clear leader, but does have three schools standing out to him at this time.
"I don't have an actual favorite, but there are several that are standing out," said McCoy. "I still like USF, I like Vanderbilt, and Auburn is really attractive, but I want to get to know more about these schools."
The Armwood offensive lineman said he's been talking to a lot of schools and thinks several more offers could be on the way
"Lots of schools have been talking to me or to my coach and could be close," said McCoy. "I'm still waiting on a few more schools that I've been talking to like Mississippi State, FIU, and a few others."
McCoy talks about the three schools that are standing out to him at this time.
USF "I'm really big on the chemistry between a coach and a player, and I really like Coach Shankweiler. I seen him coach before and I like his style. I talk to him almost every week and he seems like a pretty cool guy and I feel like we mesh very well. It's a lot like my coaches at Armwood."
Vanderbilt "They're a great academic school and when I talk to them they said I have the perfect balance between athleticism and ability, and they need tackles. I'm a tackle and I'll have a good chance to play early."
Auburn "Well they just won the National championship and that's already a great thing about them. I don't know a lot about Auburn, they did offer my brother back when he was playing and they're a good school."
Now that school is close to finished McCoy said he plans on being busy going to camps and taking plenty of unofficial visits this summer to learn more about the schools that have offered.
"I know I'll be taking some visits, but I'm not sure where or when just yet," said McCoy. "I think I'm going to take a 4-5 day road trip to see a lot of the schools out of state. I want to visit Vanderbilt, Auburn, and a few others for sure. I'll also be seeing the Florida schools as well. I'm really looking forward to these summer visits to find out more about each program."
