USF redshirt Freshman QB Jamius Gunsby, who missed most the spring to concentrate on academics has decided to transfer from South Florida and head to the Georgia Military College.
Gunsby who prepped at LaGrange HS in LaGrange, GA redshirted his first season with USF, and was battling for the No. 3 spot with spring enrollee Matt Floyd this spring before asking for time away from practice to focus on his academics. With Gunsby missing time Floyd passed him on the depth chart as the third QB behind junior B.J. Daniels and sophomore Bobby Eveld. Gunsby will now head to the Georgia Military college where he will then try to find another 4-year college to play at.
Gunsby is the third seldom used scholarship player to transfer from USF this spring, joining WR T.J. Knowles and FB/LB Chase Griffiths who have both decided to leave the team.
With the three transfers and wide receiver Alex Mut delaying his enrollment until January, USF now has more scholarship room for the incoming class and prospective transfers like Florida WR Chris Dunkley and others who are considering coming to play for USF.
