The spring semester began today and three players from USF’s upcoming recruiting class already are enrolled in classes. Quarterback Matt Floyd, and linebackers Mike Jeune, and Antoine Pozniak have all enrolled at USF and will be able to participate in spring practices.

USF Announced the additions of three new Bulls today, as quarterback Matt Floyd, linebacker Mike Juene, and linebacker Antoine Pozniak have all enrolled at USF to begin spring classes today.

“We’re very excited to have these three young men join the program,” Holtz said. “It’s a great opportunity for them to get acclimated academically, adjusted socially and begin their athletic careers as Bulls.

Milton High’s Matt Floyd, a 6’2-190 pound quarterback was one of Bulls top quarterback targets for the Class of 2011, and committed this summer after Floyd came down with his family to meet with the coaches and gave his commitment to Bulls Head Coach Holtz during the USF Sling and Shoot camp. During the 2010 season, Floyd threw for an area-high 2,272 yards on 150-272 passing with 17 touchdowns. An honor roll student, Floyd was a three-year starter at quarterback for Milton, going 262-of-477 (54.9%) for 3,983 yards and 31 TDs over his final two seasons. Floyd will join starting sophomore quarterback B.J. Daniels, freshman Bobby Eveld, freshmen Jamis Gunsby and walk-on Ryan Eppes, a redshirt freshman, this spring.

Independence linebacker Mike Jeune, verbally committed to the Bulls back in October, and signed his LOI in December. The 6’foot-2, 230 pound linebacker just finished his sophomore season with Independence CC, recording 98 tackles, 3 tackles for-a-loss, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumbles recovered, earning first team All-Conference, and first team all region at linebacker, while also serving as the teams punter.

Antoine Pozniak, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound outside linebacker of Oak Ridge Military, NC chose to play for the Bulls back in August. At Oak Ridge he posted 40 tackles and two sacks in leading the Cadets to an undefeated season. The New Jersey native played at Bishop Grimes High in Syracuse, N.Y. last season, and recorded 154 tackles, four forced fumbles and two interceptions while playing outside linebacker. Pozniak headed to Oak Ridge Military Academy in North Carolina this fall in order to graduate early and enroll in a college by January.

All three players will be able to begin winter work-outs, and be able to participate in spring practice and get a jump start on their USF football careers.

"They’ll have the opportunity to go through winter conditioning and a full spring which will really help in their development as players," said Holtz. "They’ll also be able to get a head start on their academics during the offseason, which will help them moving forward.”
